Tinicum Township

First settled in 1643. The name Tinicum is derived from the Indian names Tanakon, Tutacaenung and Teniko. Armgard Printz, daughter of the governor, who came into the ownership of the estate after her father returned to Sweden, referred to the property as Tennekong.
