Marriage Certificate of James and Caroline Hiester 

Whereas James Cleaver Hiester, of Joanna, County of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, son of Albert Edwin Hiester and Ruth Boas Hiester and Caroline Nevin Reynolds, of Township of Brecknock, County of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, daughter of Gregg David Reynolds and Elizabeth Bratton Reynolds, having declared their intentions of Marriage with each other before Reading Exeter United Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends held at Reading, Pennsylvania, according to the good order used among them, and having consent of their parents, their proposed marriage was allowed by that Meeting.

Now these are to certify whom it may concern that for the full accomplishemnt of their intentions this nineteenth day of the third month in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and fifty-five James Cleaver Hiester and Caroline Nevin Reynolds appeared in a meeting of realtives and friends held at Reading Exeter Friends Meeting House when James Cleaver Hiester taking Caroline Nevin Reynolds by the hand did on this solemn occasion openly declare that he took her to be his Wife promising with Divine Assistance to be unto her a loving and faithful Husband as long as they both shall live and then Caroline Nevin Reynolds did in like manner declare that she took James Cleaver Hiester to be her Husband and with Divine Assistance to be unto him a loving and faithful Wife as long as they both shall live

And moreover James Cleaver Hiester and Caroline Nevin Reynolds, she, according to the custom of Marriage assuming the name of her husband did as a further confirmation thereof then and there to these presents set their hands.
