Ford, Elizabeth [Webster[: 1997

Elizabeth W. “Libby” Ford, 83, of Strasburg Road, East Fallowfield, died at home Wednesday after a brief illness.

She was the wife of James W. Ford, who died in 1984.

A graduate of the former Coatesville High School, she attended the George School in Newtown.

She was a clerk for many years in the family store, Webster’s General Store, in Ercildoun.

She was a member of the Fallowfield Friends Meeting, the Society of Friends Historical Club and the Antique Club, all in Ercildoun.

Born in Ercildoun, she was the daughter of the late Warren L. and Alice B. Bietler Webster.

Surviving are a son, Ronald W. of Lancaster; a daughter, Juliann F. Bloom of Ronks; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, W. Lloyd Webster and Robert B. Webster, both of Ercildoun.1 Lancaster New Era, 9/4/1997

Gregg, Lydia [Hutton]: 8/1902

Mrs. Lydia Gregg
After a year of great suffering Mrs. Lydia Gregg, wife of Jacob Gregg, of Kennett Square, died at her home on East Linden street, that borough, Monday, aged 87 years. In June a year ago, Mrs. Gregg was taken seriously ill and after months of pain was taken to a Philadelphia hospital, where a serious operation was performed. For weeks life hung in the balance, when she was finally able to be brought home. Since that time, she has been better and worse at intervals, sometimes being able to be down stairs, but never well enough to warrant hope of entire recovery.

The deceased was a daughter of the late Caleb and Elizabeth (Cooper) Hutton of Kennett township, and she was born in that neighborhood the 8th of August, 1845. At the age of three years, she lost her mother,and her uncle, James McFadden, of West Grove, afterward had charge of her education and training, rearing her in the ways of the Society of Friends to which religious organization she maintained a preference throughout her life. In June 1870 she married Jacob Gregg, of Kennett Square, and has resided in that borough during the past thirty years or more.

Mrs. Gregg was the mother of a large family whom she reared in the ways of rectitude and industry. Horace T. Gregg, the eldest son, died in young manhood, in 1892. Dora is the wife of Joseph Grubb, of Kennett Square; Elmer Gregg is in active business at Conshohocken; Howard is in business in Kennett Square; Walter is employed at Fernwood; Warren J. died in infancy and two daughters, Anna and Edna, are st home. A twin brother of Mrs. Gregg, Lewis Hutton, resides in Ohio;Evan Hutton, another brother, is in Cochranville, and Caleb Hutton lives in Kennett township. Mrs. Mary Strong, wife of Constantine Strong, of Kennett township, is a sister, and another sister, Mrs. Philena Dick, is a resident of Iowa.

The funeral will take place on Friday from the residence of her husband at 11 o’clock. Interment to be made at Union Hill Cemetery.2 The Jeffersonian, 8/23/1902

Gregg, Mary Anna: 2/3/1901

Mary Anna Gregg, of Kennett Square, died in that borough last Sunday, aged 68 years. The decased was the daughter of the late Moses and Christiana Gregg, of that borough, and had resided int eh town all her life. She had been ill for several weeks with the grip, and died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Sarah Ross. Jacob Gregg, of Kennett Square is a brother of the decased woman, aslo Samuel Ross and two sister, Martha Gregg and Mrs. Darah Ross.

The funeral takes place on Wednesday, interment beong made of New Garden.3The jeffersonian, 2/9/1901

Haines, Arthur A.,: 4/24/2005

Arthur A. Haines, 78, of West Chester, died on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at his residence.

He was the husband of Anne Florance Haines, with whom he shared nearly 59 years of marriage.

Born in Tabernacle, NJ, he was the son of the late Ralph and Kathryn Haines.

He was a resident of West Chester since 1948.

He served in the US Army during World War II and graduated from Drexel University in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He was a small business owner for many years.

He was a history buff and enjoyed travelling and visiting art galleries. He really loved the arts and the theatre.

In addition to his wife, Arthur is survived by four sons, Ralph Haines and his wife, Pat, of Atherton, Calif., Arthur Haines Jr. and his wife, Joannie, of Norridgewock, Maine, Randolph Haines and his wife, Terry, of Burlington, NJ, and Emerson Haines and his wife, Patti, of Willow Street; four grandchildren, Martina Anne and Elizabeth Haines, both of Maine, and Natalie Anne and Rachel Kathryn Haines, both of Burlington, NJ; and a brother, John Haines of Albany, NY.

Funeral services and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chester County Hospital Foundation, 701 E. Marshall Street, West Chester, PA 19380.
