Weihrer, Amelia – 1924
Mrs. Andrew B. Weihrer
High mass of requiem was celebrated in St. Paul’s Catholic Church by the first assistant rector, Rev. Lep J. Letterhouse, at the funeral of Amelia, wife of Andrew B. Weihrer, which took place from her home, 1205 Oley St. The body reposed in an oak casket with antique silver trimmings. Interment was made in Gethesame Cemetery by Undertaker Seidel
Weihrer, Edward E. – 5/9/1961
Edward E. Weihrer, 69, of 1018 Oley St., died this morning in St. Joseph’s Hospital.
He was born in Reading,a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Weihrer. He was employed as an electrician by the state of Pennsylvania, prior to his retiremnet five years ago.
Weihrer was a member of the 12th ward Democratic Club, the Junior Fire Co., and the Marion Fire Co.
Surviving are his widow, Minnie (Battdorf) Weihrer, three daughter: Amelia, wife of George Edwdards, Stony Creek Mills; Winifred, wife of Earl L. Deininger Jr., Exeter township; and Jeanne, wife of Francis Fenstermacher, Miami, Fla.; two sons, Edward, Pasedena, Md., and Bernard B., Reading; five grandchildren; one sister, Rose K., widow of Dave Bauer, Reading, and one brother Arthur, unknown.
Funeral services will be held in the Gallman Funeral Home on Saturday, at 2 p.m., the Rev. Norman W. Shollenberger, officiating. Burial will be made in the Laureldale Cemetery.1Reading Eagle, 5/9/1961
Weihrer, William J. – 2/22/1943
William J. Weihrer, 59, of 209 North Eighth St., died yesterday in St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was a son of the later Andrew and Amelia (Eck ) Weihrer, and was a member of the Franklin Athletic Club.
Surviving are his widow, Netties (Haynes), and these brothers and sisters: Charles, Reading; Arthur, Uniontown; Edward, Rose, wife of David Bauer, and Annie, wife of Fred Kroener, all of Reading, and Ella, wife of Adam Hiester, Wernersville R.D.1.
Funeral Thursady at 11 a.m. from the parlors of T. C. Auman, Inc., the Rev. A. Rogar Kratz officiating. Interment will be made in Aulenbach’s Cemetery. 2Reading Eagle, 2/23/1943
Witman, Robert G. – 12/23/2007
Robert G. Witman, 99, a resident of the Highlands at Wyomissing since 1996, died of natural causes Dec. 23, 2007.
He was formerly a resident of West Wyomissing for 50 years.
His wife, Katharine (Shearer) Witman, died two months ago. They had been married 72 years.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late William Abbott Witman Jr. and Lillie (Grander) Witman.
He was the grandson of William Abbott Witman, builder of the Reading Pagoda in 1908.
He was a 1926 graduate of Reading Boys High School and was the last remaining member of the class. He was a 1930 graduate of Virginia Military Institute. He did postgraduate studies at Dickinson Law School and the University of Pennsylvania.
Witman was part owner and secretary-treasurer of the former Reading Co. Steel Fabrication Specialists.
He was a member of Bausman Memorial United Church of Christ, Wyomissing.
He was a 32nd degree Mason of St. John’s Lodge 435, F&AM, since 1972.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas A., husband of Barbara Ann Witman, West Lawn, and Daniel S., husband of Carol F. Witman, Sinking Spring.
Other survivors include two grandchildren, Scott Witman, Wyomissing, and Shelley Dwinal, Exeter Township; a great-granddaughter, Kylee Ann Dwinal; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Lillie Smith and Marjorie Fredriksen.
Services will be private. Auman Funeral Homes, Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
